Here is a video about new friends Scarlette and Doc.
Love is everything and we are so pleased to share this story with you. On Christmas Eve Matthew and Simone Tipton from Trabuco Canyon, California drove over two hours to the San Jacinto Animal Campus to adopt a kitten who recently lost one of her legs to be the companion for their two-year-old daughter. Two year old Scarlette Tipton was born with a cancer so rare that it’s being called a one-of-a-kind cancer because she is only documented person to have it. The cancer caused her arm to swell which led to her left arm being amputated when she was just 10 months old.
The kitten was found on the street with a dangling arm by passerby, Edith Rio and her daughter-in-law Kelley Gonzalez. It is believed that the cat’s arm was caught in the fan belt of a car after the kitten slept there for warmth. The kitten was rushed for veterinary care and ended up at the San Jacinto Animal Campus for surgery.
Scarlette named her new three-legged kitten friend Doc after Doc McStuffins, a Disney character who cares for stuffed toys and animals in a clinic set up in her back garden called Doc McStuffins Toy Hospital. When the two met at the shelter Doc and Scarlette bonded immediately. And more good news – Scarlette is cancer free.
